Canada Day in Orleans

Canada Day at Petrie Island

Each year between 1988 and 2003, the Fallingbrook Community Association organized the largest volunteer-run Canada Day celebration in the country. Thousands of people attended the fair, amusement rides, games, races and entertainment during the day. At night, over 20,000 people watched the professional fireworks. This event was intended for provide a "small-town" alternative for young families who would prefer not to take their children to the show on Parliament Hill.

In 2004, we lost the use of the Ray Friel Centre fields due to construction of the double arena.  There is a new group called Greater Orleans Canada Day that is organizing a large show on Petrie Island for July 1.

The Fallingbrook Community Association now runs the Kids Tent activities on July 1 at Petrie Island as a community service.
